We joined friends for Amanda's first camping trip. There was swimming, hiking and the novelty of sleeping outdoors—but on the way home she delivered her final verdict: camping made her toes dirty, and she never wanted to go again.

The campsite turned simple routines into an adventure. Tents, shared food and the sounds of nature gave Amanda a very different kind of family weekend.

We followed the path toward a waterfall and swimming hole. Liza—once a Chinese beauty pageant contestant—joined Amanda for a cheerful photograph in front of the falls.
